About the role
This position supports AWG's mission to ensure the success of its member retailers and provide opportunities to its employees. Key responsibilities include managing payroll and benefits, assisting with recruitment, handling employee relations, and maintaining HRIS records.
Responsibilities
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all division personnel
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
- Conducts recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel, conducts new-employee orientations, and writes and places recruiting advertisements
- Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
- Maintains division organization charts
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed
- Maintains human resource information system (HRIS) records and compiles reports from the database as required
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
- Performs data entry of salary and other payroll related changes into ADP, including new hires and terminations
- Provides maintenance with the HRIS for Human Resources recordkeeping
- Performs data entry for all non-exempt associates' non-productive accruals in the KRONOS time keeping system
- Communicates to management when annual merit reviews and merit increases are due
- Keeps tracking log of entire review process and assures that necessary approvals are secured prior to affecting the change and ensures the necessary data is forwarded to payroll
- Repplies to State Unemployment claims on terminated employees
- Responsible for paying department bills, making vouchers, and obtaining necessary approval signatures
- Obtains necessary vendor numbers, if needed
- Administers the Service Award Program, ensuring awards are ordered and received in a punctual manner
- Covers postings regarding Years of Service, birthdays, Promotions, and other AWG events and activities or posting of employee information
- Orders flowers for hospitalization and funerals of employees and their families
- Processes all garnishments, child support withholding orders, bankruptcies, and IRS Levies
- Maintains all office filing and assures compliance with government and company regulations and procedures regarding record maintenance and retention
- Ensures I-9 files are properly maintained
- Coordinates employee activities (ie: company picnic, luncheons)
- Helps employees understand their benefit coverage
- Responsible to track and maintain all appropriate records for all leaves of absences, including working with insurance carrier on short term and long term disability matters
- Responsible for maintaining eligibility for 401K enrollments and processing enrollments; processing terminations, ytd hours, vested dates, and changes of address
- Maintains a working knowledge of KRONOS, ADP, and HWSE systems
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and three to five years' human resource experience, or a master's degree in human resource management and two years' experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
