Duties
- Aid in recruitment, appointments, reappointments, onboarding, and timely processing of employment actions.
- Review HR paperwork for completeness and accuracy, resolving errors and inconsistencies as needed.
- Provide a resource for college departments regarding personnel actions, policies, and procedures related to recruitment, appointment, and reappointment matters.
- Support the promotion and planning of HR programs, projects, activities, and initiatives.
- Assist new hires with paperwork and ensure accurate documentation for budget and Central Office.
- Offer administrative support and ensure policies and procedures are followed and administered fairly and non-discriminatorily.
- Work with managers and supervisors to review and classify job descriptions and job vacancy announcements (JVNs).
- Develop and maintain confidential electronic and paper record-keeping systems for staff and faculty records.
- Assist with the maintenance of employee files and other relevant information in HR hard copy and electronic systems.
- May supervise staff and act as a team lead for talent acquisition functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Prioritization and multitasking experience preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in an administrative support role in HR or business office in higher education.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- A high degree of integrity relative to the security and confidentiality of data.
- A high degree of detail-oriented skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative and cooperative working style with diverse campus community.
- Experience working in the Human Resources field, and/or with HRMS systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft (CUNYFirst) or similar HR systems and tools.
- Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publishers, and Outlook), Virtual Platforms (Teams, Zoom, WebEx, Skype), Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and G-Suite (Google Docs, Google Mail, Google Hangout, etc.).
- Familiarity with educational learning management systems, student management and reporting systems such as Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas, Schoology, and Argos.
