About the Role
Coordinate human resource activities for the facility and support the Human Resource Manager in programs to assist employees. This is a salary non-exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Support the HR Manager in carrying out HR programs.
- Assist in learning and training programs, including new hire orientation.
- Aid managers in ensuring compliance with union guidelines for conflict or disciplinary action.
- File paperwork associated with Federal programs and mandates.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees.
- Process information in HRIS systems.
- Verify time information from managers and supervisors weekly to ensure proper payroll processing.
- Maintain employee information in Vantage.
- Follow up with managers to ensure accuracy of attendance records.
- Perform data entry in HRIS systems.
- Assist in general HR responsibilities for the facility.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including support for the job bid process, interviewing, and directing the new hire process.
- Participate as a team member in the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Attend team meetings and foster strong team cohesiveness on major issues.
- Identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team to resolve them.
- Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Familiarize yourself with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand your role in supporting these systems.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Physical Activities
- Enter and locate information on a computer.
- Visually verify information, often in small print.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, or employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail.
- Present information to small or large groups.
- Work in various temperatures.
- Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Wear PPE as required when visiting the facility.
Travel
Travel domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites.
Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in human resources.
- Thorough understanding of Human Resources policies and laws.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Suite.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in HR Development, Organization Development, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, IO Psychology, or related field (preferred).
- SPHR Certification (preferred).
Industry Experience
Preference for experience in a food processing organization.
