HR Coordinator
About the Role
MG+M The Law Firm has an immediate opening for an HR Coordinator in our Boston, Chicago, Edwardsville, or New Orleans offices. MG+M is a nationally renowned litigation law firm concentrating on complex civil matters. The firm's expertise is diverse but focused in the areas of toxic tort, complex product liability, local government, general liability, and commercial litigation. We approach litigation as a unified team, integrating our efforts with those of our clients to advance their interests wherever they do business. This new, shared role provides administrative support across all core HR functions. The Coordinator serves as a bridge between People + Culture and Talent Acquisition, splitting time evenly between the two, and helps the firm scale its recruiting and people programs while reducing reliance on outside recruiting agencies. Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition Support
- Provide recruiting coordination: schedule interviews, manage candidate communications.
- Maintain job postings and keep the applicant tracking system (ATS) accurate and up to date.
- Support campus and lateral recruiting logistics, career fairs, outreach events, and interview days.
- Help deliver a positive, professional candidate experience and support employer-branding efforts.
- Assist with DEIB recruiting initiatives and reporting as directed.
- Coordinate offer letters, pre-employment screenings, and background checks.
- Track and report on recruiting pipeline metrics, including time-to-fill and source-of-hire.
- Build and maintain relationships with universities, student organizations, and external recruiting partners.
People + Culture Support
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding and offboarding, including paperwork, system access, and orientation logistics.
- Manage employee records and compliance filing in accordance with firm policy and applicable law.
- Assist with HR programs and employee-lifecycle processes (status changes, leaves, and engagement initiatives).
- Prepare new-hire welcome packets and coordinate first-day setup (workspace, equipment, and building access).
- Track and follow up on outstanding onboarding paperwork, including I-9 and E-Verify completion.
- Maintain org charts, employee directories, and HR intranet content.
- Coordinate scheduling for employee training sessions and maintain attendance records.
- Process employment-verification and reference-check requests.
- Maintain the Firm's HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across employee records.
- Process employee data changes (new hires, transfers, promotions, separations) and maintain confidential personnel files.
- Generate standard and ad hoc HR reports and metrics to support decision-making by the People + Culture team.
General HR Support
- Respond to routine employee inquiries and escalate complex matters to the appropriate HR leader.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Support cross-functional HR projects and initiatives as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, templates, and documentation.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the People + Culture and Talent Acquisition teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 1+ years of HR, recruiting, or administrative experience, law firm or professional-services experience a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS and/or ATS platforms; strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and a service-oriented, collaborative approach.
- Sound judgment and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
Pay
- Boston and Chicago: $60,000 - $65,000
- Edwardsville and New Orleans: $50,000 - $60,000
