Houston Technology Audit & Advisory (Energy & Utilities) Senior Consultant
About the role
Protiviti is looking for a Technology Audit & Advisory Senior Consultant to join our growing team. As a Senior Consultant, you will be a mentor, trainer, and coach to Interns and Consultants as you facilitate the successful completion of project work plans. You’ll identify areas of risk and opportunities to increase efficiency. You’ll strengthen relationships and deepen your abilities to communicate, gain trust, and network with client personnel and professional associates.
Responsibilities
At the direction of Managers, you may accept responsibility for decision-making in areas including establishing project scope and work plans, project staffing, preparation of deliverables, and application of methodologies. You will work with clients to assess, identify risk, advise, and consult on different technology-related topics, including cybersecurity, cloud assurance, project risk advisory, technology risk management and assessment, IT general controls, AI and data governance, data privacy, technology regulations, enterprise applications, technology resilience, and IT Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Requirements
- Experience with or understanding of IT audit methodologies and developing necessary audit deliverables, including process flows, work programs, audit reports, and control summaries.
- Knowledge of commonly used internal control frameworks, including COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS, ITIL, etc.
- Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act provisions and methodologies for achieving compliance, in particular the technology implications and requirements.
- A passion for the latest trends and developments in data and technology, including high-growth topics of cybersecurity, cloud, data governance, privacy, analytics, enterprise applications, disaster recovery, systems development methodologies, etc.
- Ability to translate and communicate technology topics and audit issues to client personnel, including executives.
- Knowledge and understanding of the energy and utilities industry.
- Supervisory experience of teams, including mentoring, oversight, and review of work, coordination across teams, and understanding how to motivate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or business-related field).
- 2+ years working in internal audit, consulting, assurance services, risk and control programs, or related field, either in professional services or industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications with specific emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Professional certification such as CIA, CRMA, CISA, CISM, CISSP, or similar preferred.
Skills
- Evaluating, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting data.
- Establishing and cultivating business relationships and a professional network.
- Ability to leverage AI to enhance personal productivity as well as internal audit and SOX activities, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
- Proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and/or RPA Solutions a plus.

Pay
Starting salary is based on a full-time equivalent schedule, with a range of $90,000.00 - $134,000.00. The annual bonus plan provides eligible employees with a 10% bonus target opportunity, resulting in an estimated total cash range of $99,000.00 - $147,400.00.
Schedule
Protiviti practices a hybrid model, which is a combination of working in person with a purpose and working remotely. The ratio of remote to in-person requirements varies by client, project, team, and other business factors, and may include local or out-of-state travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
