About the Role
The Housekeeping Supervisor ensures housekeeping quality standards are met and departmental goals are achieved. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness standards, associate morale, budgetary goals, and inter-departmental relations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly documented inspections of guestrooms, public areas, and support facilities with the Director of Services (DOS) and Housekeeping Manager.
- Implement and maintain controls to achieve the highest cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Facilitate constructive communications through:
- Weekly RAP sessions with the Director of Services and Housekeeping Manager.
- Regularly scheduled supervisors meetings.
- Monthly department meetings.
- Up-to-date posting area for memos and announcements.
- Prepare, approve, and post the weekly schedule by 12:00 noon on Thursdays.
- Oversee general cleaning programs for public areas and hotel outlets.
- Train associates on proper usage and handling of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Manage the administrative operations of the Housekeeping Department and special projects as requested.
- Operate the Housekeeping Department on a day-to-day basis.
- Implement a comprehensive work order program to ensure:
- Work orders are written, catalogued, and followed up.
- Follow-up with Engineering for completion or reasons for non-completion.
- Build and maintain an Associate Relations Program to meet both associate needs and company goals.
- Establish and maintain a daily "Morning Meeting" to greet staff and inspect uniform cleanliness.
- Develop and implement an incentive program for positive Guest Satisfaction Scores (GSS) and recognize associates mentioned on comment forms.
- Implement a system to recognize associate birthdays.
- Manage "on call" status, requested time off, and other special requests using an approved system.
- Ensure timely and fair personnel administration, including completion of PAFs for reviews and coaching/counseling forms.
- Participate in budgetary systems, including weekly budget progress reports, periodic inventories, and annual budgeting.
- Control overtime through proper scheduling and immediate response to problems.
- Review operating statements and address unusual overages or shortages to meet budgeted goals.
- Audit schedules, wage projections, recaps, and payroll.
- Ensure associates are hygienically clean with complete uniforms.
- Review out-of-order rooms daily and provide up-to-date job descriptions for all associates.
- Respond immediately to guest problems and correspondence.
- Ensure proper storage and logging of Lost and Found articles.
- Maintain division goals for accident prevention, safety, fire prevention, and associate awareness.
- Work with the Engineering Department to ensure preventive maintenance procedures are followed.
- Relieve the Main Linen Room Attendant as required.
- Work third shift (23:00 - 07:00) as necessary or scheduled.
Requirements
- Housekeeping and supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
- Effective communication with other departments, guests, and vendors.
- Facility maintenance and housekeeping skills, including knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email).
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision and supervise others effectively.
- Operate equipment such as commercial washer/dryer, magnetic card door-lock systems, vacuums, and computers.
- Ability to perform essential functions of Room Attendant, Inspector, House Attendant, and Laundry personnel.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Seeing: Ability to read reports, drive, and use a computer.
- Hearing: Ability to communicate on the phone and in person.
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Ability to stand for extended periods and move between departments.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to climb four flights of stairs and stoop/kneel for short periods.
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Ability to write, type, and use phone systems.
Pay
$25.20 per hour
