Housekeeping Supervisor

About the role

The Housekeeping Supervisor works with the Housekeeping Manager to assist in supervising the housekeeping operation, ensuring product quality standards are met and optimum service is provided to hotel guests. This position inspects rooms, trains room attendants, and performs cleaning duties in all areas of the hotel to deliver clean rooms for occupancy that meet the brand’s time, product, and placement standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients, adhering to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instilling a passion for customer service in all associates.
• Inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest suites, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair; advise employees of deficiencies and provide retraining as needed.
• Assist with training employees and ensure they have the tools and equipment needed to carry out their job duties effectively.
• Assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments to ensure proper coverage.
• Perform all necessary housekeeping duties, including cleaning guest suites and hotel public spaces to ensure guest satisfaction and meet owner expectations.
• Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and room supplies; monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment.
• Manage procedures for lost and found items.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus two years of housekeeping experience, including some supervisory training/experience.
• Ability to speak, read, and write basic English; other languages are beneficial.
• Reading and writing abilities to document tasks, order supplies, receive instructions, and read equipment manuals, including safety information.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
• Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
• Regular use of commercial cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
