Job Description
The Housekeeping Manager (HM) oversees the housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure quality standards are met and guest satisfaction is maintained. Key responsibilities include managing staff, inventory, and guest complaints, while promoting teamwork and quality service.
Work Environment
The role involves a mix of service and office environments, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs and working extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate, some college or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor
- Experience in a hotel or hospitality-related field preferred
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Operational/Functional: Manage day-to-day operations, ensure room and housekeeping area cleanliness, maintain inventory, report room statuses, promote teamwork, adhere to safety and sanitation standards, handle guest complaints, serve as “Manager on Duty,” and respond to emergencies.
- Strategy and Planning: Prepare weekly schedules, conduct inventories, analyze guest satisfaction data, maximize productivity, identify and solve problems, manage budgets, and participate in forecasting processes.
- Financial Management: Assist in developing the department’s budget, monitor performance, manage staffing levels, and actively participate in budget and forecasting processes.
- Managing Your Team: Ensure staff training, hiring, training, and promotions, conduct pre-shift meetings, monitor and measure employee performance, conduct annual evaluations, coach employees, and handle employee issues professionally.
- Leading with Passion: Utilize resources across departments, motivate employees, establish a positive culture, lead by example, operate with integrity, inspire team members, and demonstrate Sonesta’s core values.

- Anticipated Pay Range: $67,000-$80,300 - Base pay offered may vary based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
