Assists the Assistant Director of Housekeeping in planning, directing, coordinating, and managing the activities of Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, Public Area Attendants, and House Attendants, in accordance with established Mondrian South Beach Hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supervises daily activities, providing organization, instruction, and guidance to staff members of the Housekeeping Department.
- Ensures completion of daily objectives while maintaining Mondrian South Beach hotel standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction and ensuring that all department and company policies and procedures are followed.
- Monitors work performance of team members by inspecting all hotel rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness meets Mondrian South Beach hotel standards.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, being decisive in problem situations and taking appropriate corrective actions.
- Responds promptly and expedites all guest requests, monitoring guest comments and taking corrective action as necessary to improve service.
- Generates creative solutions, continually seeking to improve the housekeeping operation.
- Seeks out and demonstrates the use of new methods, techniques, and equipment.
- Leads deep cleaning and other special projects and coordination of preventative maintenance programs.
- Assists in the recruiting, training, and development of all housekeeping employees.
- Prepares and conducts 90-day and annual performance reviews, in collaboration with the Senior Assistant Director of Housekeeping.
- Recognizes and develops promising supervisory employees.
- Assists in managing the preparation of schedules, payroll, and workloads for Housekeeping staff, ensuring maximum efficiency.
- Monitors inventory of all housekeeping supplies, prepares requisitions, receives, and confirms deliveries, and verifies invoices pertaining to the Housekeeping Department.
- Assists in inventories of linen and supplies.
- Monitors proper use of housekeeping supplies and equipment and observance of safety requirements.
- Prepares and follows up on incident and accident reports.
- Assists employees during peak periods.
- Conducts department pre-shift and monthly department staff meetings.
- Carries out additional responsibilities as directed by Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Director of Hotel Operations.
- Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards and safety.
- Performs other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing guest requests.
- Supports room attendants in cleaning guest rooms per hotel standards.
- Completes all Mondrian South Beach required training.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Hospitality/Business Management preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Housekeeping Management, with a minimum of 4 years of experience working in a four/five-star hotel environment preferable.
- Understanding of Housekeeping standards, operating goals and objectives, policies and procedures, projects, organization, delegation, and follow-through.

- Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits.
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Mondrian South Beach standards.
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed indoors with moderate and controlled temperature.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
- Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, and frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning and inspection tasks.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must have finger dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, dolly, forklift, pallet racks, and other office equipment as needed.
