About the role

The Family Living Director (FLD) oversees one of our community-based residential homes, providing care and support to three (maximum of six) adults with developmental disabilities. Hours may vary between weekdays and weekends, and may be a live-in or live-out position. Scheduling is based on the needs of the home and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises all Direct Support Professionals assigned to their home.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and appraises employees.
  • Plans, assigns, directs, and resolves work issues.
  • Reviews and approves timesheets.
  • Manages house schedule, budget, and overtime.
  • Ensures a safe environment and reports maintenance needs.
  • Supports residents in developing friendships and community involvement.
  • Provides individualized attention and maintains a comfortable, organized home.
  • Communicates with relevant parties and documents information.
  • Attends mandatory meetings and conducts house meetings.
  • Reports incidents of abuse or neglect and follows safety practices.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old.
  • A nurturing and caring demeanor.
  • A genuine interest in supporting the independence of those we serve.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A college degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the human services field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Maryland driver's license with no more than three points.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the individualized care plan for each person and the ability to support them according to their care plan.
  • Ability to administer and maintain ongoing medication and physician orders.
  • Ability to provide a safe environment and report maintenance needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, peers, individuals, families, and other contacts.
  • Ability to handle concerns shared by a family member in a timely manner.
