Job Responsibilities
- Cleans teeth
- Examines head, neck, and oral areas for signs of oral disease
- May educate clients on oral hygiene
- Takes and develops X-rays
- Applies fluoride or sealants
- Serves as a lead worker
- Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis by the doctor
- Checks lymph nodes under chin and neck to detect swelling or tenderness
- Cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of the gums
- Exposes and develops radiographs
- Feels and visually examines for gingiva using probes to locate sores, periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
- Makes impressions for sturdy models
- Provides clinical services and health education to clients and or staff
- Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth
- May train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day-to-day operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Achieved an associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university
- A current Georgia dental hygienist license
- Two (2) years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Familiar with Phosphor Plate Digital Radiographs
