We Are Accepting Applications For The Following Position Hourly Dental Hygienist (10408) LOCATION: T.O. Vinson / North Health Centers DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Community Health / HAP / Oral Health SALARY INFORMATION: $35.00 Hourly / Pay Grade TPW / Job Code HCT012 Job Responsibilities Under general supervision, cleans teeth, examines head, neck, and oral areas for sign of oral disease. May educate clients on oral hygiene and develop x-rays or apply fluoride or sealants. May serve as lead hygienist. Clean teeth observe abnormalities in face, mouth, neck and take x-rays. Apply fluoride and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay (varnish, sealants). Screenings, Fluoride treatments, cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments. Feels and visually examine gums, using probes, to locate sores, periodontal recessed gums, and signs of gum disease. Check lymph nodes under client’s chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer. Give oral hygiene instructions explain procedures to patients, parents help patients with paperwork. Call schools, head-start programs, YMCA, etc. to set up events. Call schools and agencies to coordinate Dental Quiz Bowl annual events. Prepare supplies for events. Complete event paperwork and enter the appropriate database. Provide dental school screening. Provides clinical services and health education to clients and/or staff to improve and maintain oral health. Create PowerPoint presentations and provide education for health fairs, school career days, Red Ribbon events. Present at parent teacher meetings in the schools. Assist the dentist with x-rays and exams. Clean operatories thoroughly follow all recommended procedures. Clean instruments and bag for sterilization, run sterilizer and empty when sterilization is complete. Clean trays, set up trays for the next patient. Keep operatory stocked with supplies. Inform appropriate staff when supplies are low. Contact local extended living centers to offer services to residents. Visit all DCBOH dental clinics regularly for infection control. Work on updating forms necessary for various procedures. Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. Provide front desk assistance when needed. Complete continuing Education classes (virtually and face to face). CDC, HIV, American Dental Association (ADA) maintain knowledge of infection control related to upcoming diseases and infections. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia dental hygienist license AND Two years of related experience OR One year at the lower level Dental Hygienist 2 (HCT011) or position equivalent.
