Home Organizing Specialist

Harbor Lane Senior Transition Concierge · Houston, TX · 6 days ago
Management$16–$20/hrPart-time

Not every family we help is moving. Many just need a home that works again: a garage they can park in, a closet they can use, a house that's grown too full to manage. These are shorter projects, often a single day or a few sessions, and you're frequently the only Harbor Lane person in the home. That makes you the whole experience for that client.

Responsibilities

  • Work side by side with clients to sort, declutter, and organize a space at their pace
  • Build systems the client can keep up after you leave, not just a tidy afternoon
  • Sort belongings into keep, gift, sell, donate, and release, with every decision theirs
  • Prepare and transport donation loads, and keep receipts organized for the family
  • Reset and stage the finished space so the result is obvious the moment they walk in
  • Photograph before and after with the client's permission
  • Be the calm, professional face of Harbor Lane on your own in someone's home

Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds, use a step stool, and be on your feet, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Willing to make donation runs, sometimes with a loaded vehicle
  • A smartphone, and comfort using apps for checklists, photos, and schedules
  • Willing to work in homes that are dusty, cluttered, or in disrepair
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Offers are contingent on a background check

Qualifications

  • You genuinely like this work, and you can see the order inside a cluttered room
  • Patience with someone who needs a long minute to decide about a single box
  • Self-direction, because there often isn't a supervisor on site with you
  • Discretion about what you see in someone's home, always
  • Warmth that holds up over several hours with the same person

Schedule

Most projects run four to eight hours in a day, usually on weekdays between 8am and 4pm, with occasional Saturdays. Some are a single day and some run across a few sessions. You need at least two weekdays available between 9am and 3pm.

This tends to suit professional organizers, retirees, former teachers and nurses, people who have done this for their own family and found they were good at it, and anyone with retail or merchandising experience who likes making a space make sense.

Pay

$16 to $20 an hour, depending on experience. This is a part-time W-2 position. You're an employee of Harbor Lane, with taxes withheld and workers' compensation coverage, not an independent contractor.
