High School ELA Interventionist
About the role
The Interventionist position at Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy (LAVCA) focuses on supporting the academic growth of "At-Risk" students through individualized and small group sessions. This role requires collaboration with general education teachers and the special education team to facilitate eligibility for special education services.
Responsibilities
- Modifies and adapts the K12 curriculum to align with state content standards.
- Collaborates with general education teachers to meet the goals of targeted students.
- Educates parents on various instructional strategies.
- Ensures the implementation of the Response to Intervention (RTI) instructional system to increase student achievement.
- Collects and maintains all RTI data, including lists of eligible students and intervention plans.
- Serves as a daily resource to school administrators, school leadership teams, and other stakeholders regarding RTI issues.
- Collaborates with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and additional district personnel to coordinate and track Tier 2 interventions.
- Provides ongoing training and support to school/district staff regarding RTI and the implementation of the RTI and data collection procedures.
- Supports teachers in documenting student progress.
- Works with the special education team to facilitate eligibility for special education.
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4).
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
Qualifications
- Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum.
Skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions.
Benefits

Salary range is $43,877.00 - $65,815.00, with the possibility of a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors including geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
