About the role

Circle of Life Academy is seeking a qualified High School ELA Interventionist to instruct students in assigned subject areas, ensuring the Mission of the school is met. The primary role is to provide students with engaging, relevant curriculum, a rich learning environment, and a variety of supports to promote academic success.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that facilitates the learning process to ensure high academic achievement for all students.
• Evaluate each student’s learning style and create a learning environment that addresses individual needs.
• Maintain a high level of classroom discipline in accordance with classroom and school rules.
• Develop and implement high-quality lesson plans.
• Collect, analyze, evaluate, and use student data to improve teaching strategies.
• Generate computerized student reports.
• Maintain high academic standards and clear performance goals for all students.
• Work collaboratively with administration, teachers, support staff, parents, and students to meet student needs and maintain a positive, professional atmosphere.
• Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, and parents.
• Stay current with new trends and teaching methodologies through professional development activities such as seminars, classes, and conferences.
• Integrate and incorporate Ojibwe Language and Culture into teaching units and lessons.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or related field.
• Eligibility for or possession of an appropriate Minnesota teaching license.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of and ability to follow policies and procedures of the White Earth Tribal Council, Circle of Life Academy, and the Education department.
• Knowledge of White Earth Reservation history, culture, and lifestyles.
• Knowledge of curriculum design, teaching methods, and measurement of teaching effects.
• Understanding of human behavior, learning styles, and motivation.
• Proficiency in using technology for data collection, reports, and student learning.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collect, organize, and evaluate student data.
• Ability to identify and apply creative teaching methods.
