About the role
The primary responsibility of the HVAC Helper is to perform maintenance and repair operations pertaining to small to medium sized heating and cooling systems. The Helper is responsible for maintaining the quality of work at acceptable company standards, and for representing the company to the customer in a manner that ensures effective communication and a positive relationship.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
- Maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance at all times
- Work alongside an experienced journeyman or supervisor
- Obtain purchase orders and make small purchases required during the performance of work
- Maintain consistent compliance with company policies and procedures
- Diagnose causes of equipment breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspection tasks as defined in each maintenance agreement
- Attend periodic meetings with supervisor as required to review work progress and potential problems
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Knowledge of current NEC Code and OSHA safety regulations
- Ability to read trade specific blueprints and technical diagrams
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when handling emergencies
- Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy, make decisions based on measurable criteria and comprehend technical data

Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand. Unscheduled overtime may be required, as necessary
