Heavy Equipment Rental Field Technician

About the role
As our Rental Field Technician, you’ll be the trusted expert keeping our customers’ material handling and construction equipment running at peak performance. You’ll travel throughout your assigned region, performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance at customer locations to ensure maximum uptime for essential equipment.
Each day, you’ll work on all makes and models of material handling and construction equipment, diagnosing and repairing systems including electric forklift systems, LPG and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, carburetors, electrical and air systems, final drives, clutches, and more. You’ll troubleshoot equipment issues, communicate clearly with customers, and ensure high-quality service on every visit. You’ll also collaborate with the Parts Department to identify, order, and return parts efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment systems, including electric forklift systems, LPG and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, carburetors, electrical and air systems, final drives, and clutches.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting at customer locations to maximize equipment uptime.
- Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Work with the Parts Department to identify, order, and return parts as needed for efficient job completion.
- Maintain and operate a fully equipped Pape’ service vehicle while navigating your assigned territory.
Requirements
- Knowledge of JLG, Genie, and other AWP equipment, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot; aerial experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in electronic and hydraulic repairs.
- Experience with diesel and gas engine repair; experience with John Deere equipment highly preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge and self-motivation to work with little or no supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; CDL preferred.
- Must provide own tools.
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 75 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights.
Pay
$34.92–$45/hour (depending on experience).
