Heavy Equipment Field Technician

About the role

Home base for this opportunity is the Shippingport, PA area, but extensive travel to multiple jobsites is required to complete field repairs on large construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and small construction equipment as needed. Start and end times may vary based on workload and job demands.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical, and hydraulic components on heavy construction equipment in a field environment.
• Use a laptop for technical information and diagnostics during safe assembly/disassembly of components.
• Write and complete service reports.
• Participate in company training programs.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Document all work completed accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar (preferred).
• 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred).
• Proficiency with hand tools, air tools, test equipment, powered shop tools, and overhead cranes.
• Ability to operate, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, electrical systems, and aftertreatment systems.
• Hydraulic troubleshooting skills and ability to read hydraulic/electrical schematics.
• Crane knowledge is a plus.
• Willingness to work in both shop and field environments on diverse equipment.
• Desire to take on new challenges.
