HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC

Duties And Responsibilities

• General overhauls of plant equipment such as crushers, screens, feeders and batching plants;
• Rebuilds equipment components and trouble shoots;
• Diagnoses malfunctions and based on findings repairs, adjusts, and maintains equipment;
• May perform the duties of other mechanics or welder;
• Uses hand and power tools common to their trade such as wrenches, hammers, hoists, drills, grinders, feeler gauges, indicators, component testing equipment, etc.

• Drives pickup and tests equipment as necessary;
• Serves (cleans, oils, and lubes) equipment, plant compressor, pumps and meters;
• Follows established procedures in preparing necessary reports, requisitions, etc.

• Assists other tradesmen with repairs;
• Oversees the work of trades helpers, other mechanics or welders, and other tradesmen where their assistance is needed;
• Performs night shift work and other related duties as required;
• Always works safely and takes action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment;
• Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve;
• Independently working to assess and repair equipment appropriately.
