Heavy Duty Fire Truck Mechanic

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Fire Truck Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle maintenance and automotive diagnostics, with the ability to work effectively with hand tools and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and fire apparatus.
• Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Assemble and disassemble engine components as necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
• Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.
• Interpret schematics to understand complex systems and components.
• Work collaboratively with other service technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in diesel technology.
• Service fire pumps.

Requirements

• Minimum NYS (CDL) Class B with Air Brake Endorsement; Class A preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience as a heavy truck mechanic.
• Basic 12v electrical knowledge.
• Candidate must own all basic tools required to perform duties.
• Welding proficiency is a plus but not required.
• (EVT) Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified or willing to become certified within the first 6 months of employment (company paid, with travel potential to obtain).
• Basic fire pump knowledge.
• Task-oriented with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Possibility of voluntary and infrequent overtime.
• Flexible schedule to attend annual manufacturer-specific apparatus training sessions.
