About the role
Zolman’s Best One Fleet Service South Bend is seeking a full-time Fleet Service Repair Technician. The position is available in South Bend, Indiana, and is part of a locally owned and operated business with multiple locations across Michiana.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, including pick-up trucks, buses, semi-trucks, RV's, SUV's, off-road vehicles, emergency vehicles, and trailers.
- Communicate with management and service advisors to gather or verify information and advise on expected repair times.
- Travels to disabled equipment locations to fix, repair, or diagnose problems, working after hours as needed.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues to determine the most cost-effective approach to fixing, repairing, or resolving problems.
- Consults with other mechanics as needed to discuss problems or questions regarding processes or procedures.
- Operates equipment after repairs to ensure satisfactory completion or resolution of problems.
- Maintains current knowledge and skills needed to diagnose, fix, or repair heavy equipment and trucks.
- Fulfills safety and quality standards, follows company policies and guidelines, and wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Assists with taking inventory as needed.
- Maintains an orderly work area by wiping up spills, neatly storing tools and parts, properly disposing of old or unused parts and materials, sweeping the area, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Read tickets and perform work listed; write confirmations and recommendations.
- Work in an environment that is not climate-controlled, with temperatures ranging from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.

Skills & Abilities
- Education: High school graduate or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: 2-4 years’ experience in commercial truck or automotive repair industry preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of trailer maintenance and repairs is helpful.
- Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a driving record meeting company’s insurance requirements; ASE certification preferred.
- Ongoing Training: Required per company standards.
