Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, emergency repairs and final repairs on all chillers and related equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, maintain, and service a variety of HVAC equipment including heavy HVAC equipment.
- Inspect mechanical rooms for operating logs, equipment maintenance and operations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and electrical control systems related to HVAC equipment.
- Inspect and repair all types of air-conditioning, air handlers, and boilers and associated equipment.
- Inspect various air moving equipment and HVAC systems that remove heat/cool from the buildings; and/or conditions air for any malfunction; repair malfunction and make other adjustments.
- Add refrigerants to the air conditioning equipment, monitor air movement equipment, and make adjustments on the equipment for efficient operations; monitor boiler treatment and make adjustments as required.
- Repair and install pumps and electric motors to various types of HVAC systems and equipment, and perform swimming pool system maintenance.
- Inspect and repair air handlers, multi-zone heating expansion cooling units, fiberglass piping, window units and other HVAC equipment.
- Recommend emergency purchase order requests and maintain work order recordkeeping from initiation to completion.
- Work and assist other maintenance employees in responding to emergencies and resolve work related issues.
- Perform work to insure its completion within allotted time limits.
- Operate hand and power tools and other equipment using good safety practices.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and vehicles; inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment and vehicle, as required.
- Follow District safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion.
- Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times.
- Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work order completion, project orders, manufacturer's technical data sheets, material safety data sheets, and other Maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project.
- Employee will be required to work overtime as needed to complete jobs including after hour emergencies.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
- Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Universal Certification required.
- HVAC trade school certification preferred.
- Class “A” or “B” HVAC certification is preferred.
- Six (6) years of directly related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance, inspection and minor repair of HVAC equipment and energy management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the technical crafts utilized within and outside the HVAC function.
- Ability to work in confined spaces; frequently required to use ladder, climb or balance at a height up to 30 feet.
- Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
- Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement.
Qualifications
- Maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record that meets District standards.
- Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test.
- Bilingual is a plus.

- WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.
