About the role

Airgas is hiring a Sales Support Specialist in LaGrange, IL. The position is open for Aurora, IL - Jericho, and Elk Grove Village, IL - Retail shop locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support and facilitate the administrative and operational needs of the sales department, including order entry, quotation generation, account set-up, and more.
  • Manage the full order lifecycle, including processing, modifications, and cancellations, ensuring real-time tracking accuracy.
  • Monitor and resolve back-order statuses, proactively communicating timelines and providing formal proof of delivery to stakeholders.
  • Build alignment with logistics teams and vendors to ensure customer needs are met with excellent precision and care.
  • Nurture relationships with both internal and external customers, handling inquiries and order discrepancies with a focus on first-contact resolution.
  • Pioneer improvements by identifying opportunities to align workflows for better efficiency.
  • Engage in cross-training to support the Sales Support Manager and ensure team stability and shared knowledge.
  • Cultivate vendor connections by researching products and nurturing external vendor relationships to confirm transparent pricing for clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of customer service experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A thoughtful approach to tasks with a high level of attention to detail and precision.
  • An ability to prioritize needs and manage multiple workflows with care and precision.
  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to work with focused initiative to meet team timelines.
  • Detailed product research capabilities to find the best solutions for customers.
  • A positive attitude and a sincere eagerness to learn and grow with the Airgas family.

Qualifications

  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite and experience with ERP and CRM software (SAP, Salesforce, etc.).
  • A background in the Packaged Gas/Welding Supply industry is a plus.
