About the role

The position involves engagement in complex litigation in both state and federal court, as well as in arbitration. Experience handling litigation on behalf of health insurers, including defending payor-provider litigation, is highly preferred. Experience with ERISA litigation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in complex litigation in both state and federal court, as well as in arbitration.
  • Defend payor-provider litigation on behalf of health insurers.
  • Handle ERISA litigation as applicable.
  • Prepare and present motions, conduct depositions, review and respond to written discovery, and participate in trials and arbitrations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement litigation strategies.
  • Write clear, persuasive legal documents and briefs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and judges.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring consistent quality of work.
  • Second chair experience with motion practice, depositions, written discovery, and trial/arbitration is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

Candidates must be driven team players with excellent litigation, writing, and persuasive speaking skills, proven skills in research, and be self-starters who are able to handle assignments with minimal supervision. Candidates must be strong communicators who can balance their time between several matters while producing consistently good work product.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Strong academic credentials, typically a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Experience in healthcare litigation, particularly in defending payor-provider litigation and ERISA litigation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Pay

Actual compensation is tailored to each individual and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, practice area, business generation, work arrangement, and geographic market. The firm's current national base salary ranges are:

  • Associates (approximately 1-6+ years): $100,000–$165,000;
  • Senior Counsel/Of Counsel (approximately 5 years or more): $140,000–$215,000;
  • Partners (approximately 7 years or more): $190,000–$275,000+.
