About the role
As a Health & Safety Environmental Engineer (HSE) at Gardner Abrasives, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of health and safety while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, you will join the Health & Safety team at our South Beloit, Illinois location, a short distance from Beloit, WI or Rockford, IL.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain an effective incident investigation process that exposes and identifies root causes, then formulates corrective actions to exposure.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to effectively solve problems and address issues.
- Coordinate the completion of regulatory assessments to ensure all legal requirements are met and records are maintained accurately.
- Provide safety compliance training and development to all employees, including all OSHA Log required policies and procedures.
- Foster and sustain positive and collaborative relationships with all employees.
- Follow procedures and rules to promote a culture of health and safety.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of progressive experience in Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, and/or other equivalent practical experience.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and standards.
- Excellent computer skills (e.g., MS Office programs, ACAD).
- Must be a self-starter, safety-driven, and committed to an innovative work environment.
- Must be a US Citizen; no sponsorship offered.

Pay
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (salary offer is determined by experience).
