Position Summary
FIVES LANDIS CORP is actively seeking a Health & Safety, Environmental Engineer (HSE) to join its team in Hagerstown, Maryland. The position is with Fives Landis Corp, which is the High Precision Machines Division of Fives. Fives Landis Corp specializes in designing and supplying machines for various markets including Automotive, Aerospace, Defense, Rail, Shipbuilding, Energy, Space, etc. The division has approximately 1,800 employees worldwide.
Pay
Pay Range: $68,000 – $85,000 (rate offered will be commensurate with experience)
Responsibilities
- Evaluate manufacturing processes, procedures, permits, and records to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
- Lead incident, injury, and workers’ compensation investigations using root cause analysis, data analysis, and structured problem-solving methods to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze operational, safety, and environmental data to identify trends, assess risks, and measure HSE program effectiveness and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage HSE documentation control, including policies, procedures, training records, safety reports, environmental reports, regulatory filings, customer compliance portals, and ISO system documentation.
- Plan, conduct, and support regulatory assessments, internal audits, environmental inspections, and ISO audits, ensuring accurate records and timely closure of corrective actions.
- Design, deliver, and maintain OSHA-mandated and site-specific safety and environmental training programs, including new hire onboarding, refresher training, and specialized instruction.
- Provide technical guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams, standardize HSE practices across business units, lead safety committees, and conduct safety and environmental walks to strengthen safety culture.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong record keeping, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with Microsoft, SAP, ACAD, and other relevant software platforms is a plus.
Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Skills
- Experience managing ISO 19001 and ISO 14001 compliance programs and audits.
