Responsibilities

  • Collects, reviews, and analyzes information needed to underwrite new business and renewal group medical policies.
  • Identifies missing information and works with the sales team and brokers to obtain required details.
  • Applies standard underwriting guidelines to accurately calculate medical rates.
  • Prepares and reviews proposals.
  • Prepares and reviews employer and stop-loss reporting packages.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience in underwriting or the insurance industry.

Skills

  • Ability to perform essential job functions as outlined.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization, time management, and project management skills with multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, and SQL.
  • Ability to negotiate and interact well with all professional levels within the healthcare industry.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This is a sedentary office position that may exert up to 10 pounds. The role involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
