About the role
This position is primarily responsible for performing analysis used in underwriting commercial loans. We provide training, support, and opportunities for career advancement.
Responsibilities
- Spread and analyze credit data, tax returns, and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in renewing, modifying, or extending loans.
- Generate financial ratios and trend analyses using bank systems to evaluate customers' financial status and repayment ability.
- Perform market research using industry data to assess potential factors affecting customers' ability to repay.
- Prepare memos including credit analysis and loan request summaries, submitting them to loan committees for timely approval.
- Interact with loan officers, appraisers, and other third parties to facilitate credit extension and perform due diligence.
- Review third-party reports for due diligence on valuation, environmental hazards, or construction risk.
- Prepare internal evaluations of real estate properties.
- Track and update the bank’s loan workflow system as loans progress through underwriting.
- Maintain accurate file organization and retention to improve efficiency.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or a business-related field required.
- Related coursework or professional experience in financial, accounting, or business fields is a plus.
- Advanced analytical, written, oral, and interpersonal skills with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to prepare and analyze financial statements.
- Ability to articulate the strengths, weaknesses, and issues related to a transaction in both written and oral presentations.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet exacting deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of real estate fundamentals.
