Health Educator - Immunisation [Fixed Term]

About the role

This role is part of the Immunisation Outreach contract to achieve a government health target of 95% of tamariki being fully immunized by 24 months. The role involves raising awareness about immunizations and promoting healthy lifestyles within families and the wider community.

Responsibilities

• Raise awareness levels of immunization among families
• Provide education and health literacy to families
• Empower families to build healthier and safer lifestyles
• Work alongside a Registered Nurse to deliver outreach services
• Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards
• Have a current First Aid Certificate (ideally)
• Hold a current New Zealand Full Driver’s License
• Be able to communicate in Te Reo Māori and understand Māori culture (or willing to learn)

Requirements

• A Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or similar qualification
• Experience in Health Promotion and working in the community
• Live in the local community and be familiar with the area
• Experience in educating and motivating whānau
• Professional conduct in all aspects of work
• High standards of confidentiality

Qualifications

• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current New Zealand Full Driver’s License
• Ability to communicate in Te Reo Māori and understand Māori culture (or willingness to learn)

Benefits

The role offers a full-time position from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with a fixed term ending on June 30, 2027.
