About the role
The role involves coordinating, leading, and managing a team of registered nursing staff and healthcare support workers to deliver the national public health immunisation programs to school-aged children and young people across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and aligned Health and Social Care Partnership areas.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement school immunisation programs according to national policy and local planning.
- Work in partnership with education, local community, health improvement staff, and other agencies to ensure safe delivery of immunisation programs.
- Ensure adherence to local and national policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Delegate tasks to team members and monitor their performance.
- Understand and apply the clinical budget to plan and implement care.
- Identify and address any issues or risks within the team and the wider clinical area.
- Adhere to organizational recruitment policies, including equal opportunity policies, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
Requirements
- First-level nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Post-registration qualification suitable for registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register or evidence of advanced practice skills in immunisation.
- Experience of working to Patient Group Directions and Patient Specific Directions.
- Proven track record of working in partnership with education.
- Previous experience of planning and delivering immunisations/immunisation sessions.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership/management skills and experience.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Awareness of national policy and legislation within Children’s and Young People Services.
- Car driver, capable of driving in city and countryside environments.
Qualifications and/or experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Knowledge and understanding of national policy drivers for immunisation.
- IT skills (word processing, email, internet).
- Excellent oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work to challenging deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Awareness of national policy and legislation within Children’s and Young People Services.

Pay
The pay is annualised for 12 monthly payments, equating to 24.12 hours per week.
Schedule
The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Thursday 0830-1630, Friday 0830-1500, Annualised hours work 35 weeks from August to April.
