Health Educator

About the role

The Health Educator is responsible for creating experiences with a diverse student body in mind, including all activity and ability levels, and will serve as an integral part of campus well-being enhancement. This position will report to the Associate Director of Student Recreation and Wellness and support the Fitness and Facility Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate wellness ambassadors, interns, group fitness instructors, and personal trainers.
• Utilize assessment data regarding students’ health behavior and understanding of current health issues, best practices in the field, and supervisory input to assist in development and implementation of campus-wide health promotion activities, prevention campaigns, and fitness programming, utilizing peer programming strategies.
• Assist in collaboration and facilitation of the Food Recovery Program.
• Develop measurable objectives for programs and services.
• Manage fitness and wellness program budgets.
• Develop semesterly schedule group fitness classes.
• Maintain and troubleshoot AV needs for group fitness studios.
• Serve as a member of the university’s Health and Wellbeing Council.
• Serve as a wellness resource for campus engagement by assisting with campus-wide initiatives and serving on committees as appropriate.
• Plan and collaborate with campus and community partners and stakeholders to develop and implement services and programs that enhance student well-being.
