About the Role
The Health Center Manager I is responsible for the overall maintenance and operations of one health center, including the front desk and clinical departments. This role focuses on process improvement to promote efficient workflows and increase customer satisfaction across assigned locations. Efforts are directed toward improving patient care and the work environment. The Health Center Manager I provides ongoing performance measures and collaborates closely with the Operations Manager and Chief Operations Officer to meet the needs of the health centers.
The role involves organizing and directing the work of Medical Assistant staff in conjunction with Lead Medical Assistants and the Clinical Nurse Manager. The Health Center Manager I supports the efforts of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and other medical providers and staff, with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or three years of experience in healthcare management in lieu of a degree.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage clinical and front office staff.
- Oversee the overall management of assigned clinic sites.
- Ensure maintenance and compliance with City code and Joint Commission standards.
- Monitor staff schedules for adequate coverage and oversee routine, day-to-day practice and support services.
- Conduct staff meetings to discuss new or modified procedures.
- Oversee work quality audits.
- Address departmental needs, including distributing petty cash, coordinating purchasing, and receiving supplies.
- Ensure all medical records are maintained confidentially and in accordance with standard procedures.
- Prepare reports, statistics, and surveys using the practice management system.
- Conduct staff performance reviews and provide disciplinary actions, including coaching, development, and terminations as needed.
- Address overall facility needs, including opening and closing the facility daily.
- Review Operations Policies and Procedures to ensure efficient health center operations.
- Implement short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures.
- Assess and recommend programmatic/operational adjustments for improvement.
- Monitor FQHC regulations as they apply to the health center.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls over operational functions of medical services.
- Ensure all equipment licenses are current and inspections are performed on equipment and facilities to comply with regulatory agencies.
- Perform equipment inspections for safety, cleanliness, and hazards.
- Ensure adequate facility equipment is operational and schedule preventative maintenance for medical/dental equipment.
- Maintain preventive maintenance contracts (e.g., air conditioning/heating units, fire alarms).
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Participate in safety programs, including assignment to an emergency response team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
