About the role
The Head Start Teacher - Hungry Valley position at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony supports children's growth while meeting Head Start Performance Standards and RSIC policies. The role involves leading a preschool classroom, guiding classroom staff and volunteers, partnering with families, and aligning learning experiences with the Creative Curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities
- Complete screenings and ongoing observations
- Maintain accurate files, attendance, meal counts, and safety documentation
- Support children's social-emotional development using Positive Behavioral Support
- Cookordination with disability-related partners
- Communicate regularly through conferences, home visits, and written/electronic updates
Requirements
- CDA (Preschool) or AA/BA (or related degree with 15 ECE credits) plus 2+ years ECE experience
- Valid driver's license; eligible for RSIC vehicle insurance; age 21+
- Ability to pass screenings/background checks; physical exam/TB; obtain CPR/First Aid/Food Handler within 3 months
