What You'll Do
- Lead a preschool classroom that supports children's growth while meeting Head Start Performance Standards and RSIC policies.
- Guide classroom staff and volunteers.
- Partner with families.
- Support children's social-emotional development using Positive Behavioral Support.
- Care for accurate files, attendance, meal counts, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with disability-related partners.
- Communicate regularly through conferences, home visits, and written/electronic updates.
Required Qualifications
- CDA (Preschool) or AA/BA (or related degree with 15 ECE credits) plus 2+ years ECE experience.
- Valid driver's license; eligible for RSIC vehicle insurance; age 21+.
- Ability to pass screenings/background checks; physical exam/TB; obtain CPR/First Aid/Food Handler within 3 months.
- Cultural sensitivity and confidentiality.
A Typical School Day
- Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm in Reno.
- Open the room, set up learning centers, and welcome children and families with a steady, reassuring routine.
- Balance small-group moments, outdoor play, and calm transitions, adjusting the pace to what you're seeing in the room.
- Connect with families through quick check-ins at drop-off/pick-up and schedule time for deeper conversations-conferences or home visits-when needed.
- Midday includes supporting mealtime flow and keeping the environment clean, safe, and ready for the next activity.
- Make time to enter notes, update trackers, and touch base with the Education Supervisor and partner staff so everyone stays aligned on each child's progress.
