About the role
The Head Start Teacher (Lead Teacher) supports early childhood education programs to create positive outcomes for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation.
- Addresses challenging behaviors through observation, preventive measures, teaching new skills, and partnership with families.
- Documents children's progress and individualizes curriculum based on observations and anecdotal notes.
- Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns.
- Provides classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, culturally, and age-appropriate.
- Develops a print-rich environment promoting literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
- Plans daily lessons based on children's needs and interests, integrating observations, anecdotal records, and knowledge of early childhood development.
- Integrates Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
- Ensures a consistent classroom routine and provides supervision to ensure children's safety and security.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent coursework.
- Physical exam and background checks are required.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

- Experience working with children of all abilities.
- Ability to implement a child-centered curriculum.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and key experiences.
- Skills in addressing challenging behaviors and creating partnerships with families.
- Experience in developing a print-rich environment for literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
- Experience integrating Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Ability to provide a consistent classroom routine and ensure children's safety and security.

$47,095 annually.
