Head of HR

About the role

Reporting to the COO, the Head of HR will form part of the Executive Committee and lead the building society’s people strategy, culture, organisational capability and employee experience. The role will organise and coordinate the HR function to support the business in meeting its goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a people strategy aligned to the Society’s business plan
• Act as a trusted adviser to the CEO, Executive team and Board
• Translate strategic priorities into a clear workforce plan
• Ensure the HR function is credible, responsive, efficient and appropriately scaled for the Society
• Produce management information to share and discuss with the senior leadership team to enable senior management decisions
• Manage and develop the overall budget for recruitment, learning & development and remuneration
• Champion the Society’s values and ensure they are reflected in leadership behaviours, decision-making and working practices

The Person

• Strong senior HR experience, preferably within financial services or another professional services sector
• Detailed understanding of UK employment law, people governance, organisational design, reward and employee relations
• Experience in advising executive teams and Boards on strategic matters
• Evidence of building leadership capability, improving culture and delivering plans
• Demonstrated commercial awareness with the ability to balance colleague, member, regulatory and business needs
• Clear, concise and effective communicator
