About the Role

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. The Head of Enterprise Application Services is a newly created role, established to provide focused leadership over A&M's enterprise application portfolio, which includes SAP S/4 HANA, Workday, Salesforce (Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud), Sales Engagement Tools, Expense, Timekeeping, and a growing portfolio of legal, compliance, and risk-tech platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, build, run, and continuous evolution of A&M's enterprise application portfolio.
  • Ensure application platform reliability, integration coherence, vendor and SI partnership effectiveness, and alignment of the strategic roadmap with firm growth.
  • Serve as the single accountable executive translating requirements from consuming functions (Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing, Growth, and Business Unit leadership) into platform direction while maintaining configure-not-customize, integration discipline, and standards.
  • Operate and evolve vertical application domains: Finance Tech, People Tech, Legal Tech, Compliance & Risk Tech, CRM Tech, and Business Unit Tech.
  • Manage horizontal application capabilities: Integration & APIs, Custom Development & Low-Code, Engagement & Workflow.
  • Hold third-party System Integration (SI) and Managed Service partners accountable, define performance metrics, govern relationships, and escalate as needed.
  • Leverage and refine firm architecture standards, maintaining a configure-not-customize mindset.
  • Federate Business Unit (BU)-dedicated technology to platform standards while respecting BU autonomy.
  • Own the application portfolio's total cost of ownership, license optimization, and contract lifecycle for SaaS and SI partners.
  • Partner with the OCIO/TBM function on financial transparency and show back to consuming functions.
  • Build and develop the leadership layer beneath the role, including seven or more direct reports across vertical domain leads and horizontal capability leads.

Qualifications

Required

  • Multi-platform ownership at scale: Experience running a multi-domain enterprise application portfolio (ERP, HRIS, CRM, plus legal/risk and engagement platforms) as a single accountable leader.
  • SI partnership discipline: Experience in a global role working with world-class Managed Service and System Integrators, accountable through a major program. Ability to set scope, govern delivery, escalate, and avoid managed-service over-dependency.
  • Architecture instincts: Configure-not-customize as a default mindset, with a track record of resisting SI customization pressure.
  • Domain leadership: Experience building and developing a leadership layer of seven or more direct reports across vertical domain leads and horizontal capability leads.
  • DevSecOps Maturity: Modern and secure delivery practices across the application estate, including build, test, deploy-to-staging, and production handoff discipline.
  • Executive presence: Comfortable representing the application platform to the C-suite, with the ability to discuss strategy, investment, and trade-offs at an enterprise level.

Preferred

  • PSF / professional services firm experience: Understanding of the economics, decision rhythms, and stakeholder dynamics of a partner-led firm, including experience with engagement-driven systems (e.g., engagement lifecycle, time tracking, billing).
  • SAP modernization experience: Experience with an SAP S/4 HANA program at scale, ideally with a global managed-service partner, and knowledge of failure modes.
  • Salesforce maturity: Experience operating Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud in production at scale, with a strong grasp of the configuration vs. customization debate.
  • Workday operational depth: Experience running Workday HCM and Talent in production, with an understanding of the post-implementation roadmap.
  • DevOps & Governance: Experience standing up development shops using SDLC framework and security best practices.
  • Global Capability Center experience: Experience building application services delivery capability in India or an equivalent Global Capability Center (GCC) location, with senior in-region leadership.

Key Relationships

  • Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

  • Primary internal stakeholders: CFO, Controller, Chief People Officer, HR leadership, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Growth/Pursuit leadership, BU Growth leaders, BU practice leaders, CPMO and Technology Portfolio Leader, Executive Committee members (occasional, for major program review)

Organization scope: Approximately 60+ named application platforms in the firm's portfolio; team size scales with the role over the first 24 months.

Benefits

  • Healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • 401(k)-retirement savings plan with an annual discretionary contribution from Alvarez & Marsal (eligibility requirements apply).
  • Paid time off including vacation, personal days, 72 hours of sick time (prorated for part-time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. Vacation and personal days vary based on tenure and role type.
  • Robust performance development process promoting continuous learning, career advancement, and meritocracy.
  • Top-notch training and on-the-job learning opportunities.
  • Well-being resources and support.
