About the role

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. The Head of Enterprise Application Services is a newly created role, established to provide focused leadership over A&M's enterprise application portfolio, which includes SAP S/4 HANA, Workday, Salesforce (Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud), Sales Engagement Tools, Expense, Timekeeping, and a growing portfolio of legal, compliance, and risk-tech platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, build, run, and continuous evolution of A&M's enterprise application portfolio, ensuring platform reliability, integration coherence, and strategic alignment with firm growth.
  • Hold third-party vendors and System Integration (SI) partners accountable through performance metrics, governance, and escalation protocols.
  • Lead vertical application domains (Finance Tech, People Tech, Legal Tech, Compliance & Risk Tech, CRM Tech, Business Unit Tech) and horizontal capabilities (Integration & APIs, Custom Development & Low-Code, Engagement & Workflow).
  • Enforce architecture standards, including a "configure-not-customize" mindset, and manage portfolio-wide standards.
  • Federate business unit (BU)-dedicated technology to platform standards while respecting BU autonomy.
  • Own the application portfolio's total cost of ownership, license optimization, and contract lifecycle for SaaS and SI partners.
  • Build and develop a leadership team of direct reports across vertical and horizontal domains.
  • Partner with C-suite stakeholders (CFO, Chief People Officer, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, etc.) to translate requirements into platform direction.
  • Drive DevSecOps maturity, including modern delivery practices for build, test, and deployment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Multi-platform ownership at scale: Experience running a multi-domain enterprise application portfolio (ERP, HRIS, CRM, legal/risk, and engagement platforms) as a single accountable leader.
  • SI partnership discipline: Experience holding global Managed Service and System Integrators accountable through major programs, including scope-setting, governance, and escalation.
  • Architecture instincts: A "configure-not-customize" mindset with a track record of resisting SI customization pressure.
  • Domain leadership: Experience building and developing a leadership layer of seven or more direct reports across vertical and horizontal domains.
  • DevSecOps maturity: Modern and secure delivery practices across the application estate, including build, test, deploy-to-staging, and production handoff discipline.
  • Executive presence: Comfortable representing the application platform to the C-suite, with experience in strategy, investment, and trade-off discussions.

Preferred

  • Professional services firm (PSF) experience: Understanding of the economics, decision rhythms, and stakeholder dynamics of a partner-led firm, including engagement-driven systems (time tracking, billing).
  • SAP modernization experience: Experience with SAP S/4 HANA programs at scale, ideally with a global managed-service partner.
  • Salesforce maturity: Experience operating Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud in production at scale, with expertise in configuration vs. customization.
  • Workday operational depth: Experience running Workday HCM and Talent in production, including post-implementation roadmaps.
  • DevOps & Governance: Experience standing up development shops using SDLC frameworks and security best practices.
  • Global Capability Center experience: Experience building application services delivery capability in India or equivalent locations, with senior in-region leadership.

  • 401(k)-retirement savings plan with annual discretionary contribution from Alvarez & Marsal (eligibility requirements apply).
  • Paid time off: Vacation, personal days, 72 hours of sick time (prorated for part-time), 10 federal holidays, 1 floating holiday, and parental leave (amount varies based on tenure and role type).
  • Robust performance development process promoting continuous learning and career advancement.
