About the role

This is a player-coach role for someone who is energized by building, hunting, and leading from the front. The right person will personally manage high-value builder relationships while also guiding a small team of Builder Sales Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with national, regional, luxury, and custom home builders across North America.
  • Personally open doors with senior builder decision-makers, including owners, presidents, purchasing leaders, construction executives, design center leaders, and regional sales or operations leaders.
  • Develop builder programs that create repeatable project opportunities, product adoption, pricing alignment, training, and long-term revenue growth.
  • Target and manage relationships with builders such as AR Homes, Alair Homes, Schumacher Homes, Toll Brothers, Pulte Homes, Shea Homes, Drees, Castle Rock Communities, Tilson Custom Homes, Keystone Custom Homes, Scott Felder Custom Homes, Grand Homes, Newmark, Signature, Fulton Custom Homes, and other regional or luxury builders.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of Builder Sales Managers, ensuring strong activity, pipeline discipline, follow-up, and conversion.
  • Own team KPIs, including outreach activity, builder meetings, qualified opportunities, project pipeline, quotes, conversion rates, and revenue.
  • Personally manage key builder accounts and strategic opportunities while modeling strong outbound activity and relationship development.
  • Partner with distribution, dealer, contractor, and commercial sales teams to support project pull-through and builder adoption.
  • Use CRM consistently to manage builder accounts, pipeline, quotes, follow-up activity, forecasting, and team accountability.
  • Gather market intelligence from builders and channel partners to help shape pricing, product positioning, controls integration, and future growth opportunities.
  • Represent the company at builder, outdoor living, construction, and channel events across North America.

Requirements

  • Direct builder-sales experience, ideally with production builders, luxury custom builders, regional homebuilders, residential developers, or builder purchasing teams.
  • Strong existing network within the builder, new homes, luxury residential, outdoor living, or construction products ecosystem.
  • 7+ years of field sales, business development, or builder-channel sales experience.
  • Proven ability to personally open new accounts and create revenue opportunities from scratch.
  • Experience selling building products, outdoor living products, HVAC, controls, fireplaces, appliances, windows and doors, lighting, hardscape, roofing, flooring, stone, plumbing, or other residential construction products.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a small sales team, ideally 2 to 5 people.
  • High-energy, growth-oriented style with strong follow-up, urgency, and accountability.
  • CRM fluency, preferably HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence with builder owners, purchasing leaders, and construction stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel significantly across the United States and Canada.
  • Existing relationships with national or regional builders.
  • Experience building a builder channel from an early or growth stage.
  • Experience creating builder sales playbooks, account plans, pricing models, project tracking, or repeatable outreach processes.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $150,000 to $165,000 per year, depending on experience.
