About The Hun School Of Princeton

The Hun School of Princeton is an all-gender, private day and boarding school in Princeton, New Jersey. Individual attention and strong student-faculty relationships are the hallmarks of the School. On the 50-acre campus between Philadelphia and New York City, student-centered, hands-on learning prepares students for the global community in which they will live and work. The Hun School is comprised of nearly 700 students in its Middle School, Upper School, and Postgraduate Program. The campus is home to students from twenty-two countries and fifteen states.

Located in historical Princeton, New Jersey, the school is a short train ride away from both New York City (50 miles) and Philadelphia (45 miles). Princeton is home to Princeton University, The Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton Theological Seminary, and an array of cultural centers and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Head Junior Varsity Field Hockey Coach for grades 9-12; official season is from the end of August through early November, including preseason.
  • Collaborate with the Varsity Field Hockey coach in all aspects of the program, including but not limited to:
    • Developing training programs that include monitoring practices and skill development;
    • Instruction and demonstration of skill sets and techniques necessary for development and athletic achievement in the sport of field hockey;
    • Supervision of the proper use of equipment and inventory, including uniforms, general upkeep of equipment, and timely communication with the Co-Directors;
    • Performing support tasks as needed by the Head Coach or athletic department, including attendance or other related records.
  • Ensure a positive environment aligned with the school’s mission;
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with co-directors, families, and other necessary stakeholders;
  • Promote the program within the school and in the community to support the admissions process;
  • Contribute to Hun community life beyond the practice and competition venue to assist in furthering the mission of the school.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred;
  • A minimum of 2-5 years coaching experience at a High School or college is preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members;
  • Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement;
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends;
  • First Aid and CPR training—or have the ability to be trained;
  • A love for working with young people and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive community.

Pay

Seasonal Coaching Stipend Range: $5,000 to $6,300 per season. The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
