About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to join our Health Services Clinical Team. This position processes clients into various health clinics based on services provided and requested. To be successful, you must be able to resolve problems quickly and efficiently, maintain excellent working relationships, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, manage time-sensitive tasks, and work independently.

Under supervision, this role provides day-to-day administrative support to the assigned district clinic office. Functional areas include general office administration, receptionist/public contact, and/or information systems/software.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and registers clients.
  • Promptly answers incoming telephone calls.
  • Responds to client inquiries and requests for information.
  • Accurately enters data and information into appropriate databases.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Files and processes/distributes mail.
  • Works with other clinic administrative support team members.
  • Performs other general office duties.

Requirements

  • High school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (required within 60 days).
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification (required within 60 days).

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, driving record check, and sanction screenings to the satisfaction of the employer. This position is emergency/essential services personnel (required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies).

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two or more years of experience providing administrative support in a high-volume health clinic or medical healthcare setting.
  • Experience with medical billing, database maintenance, filing systems, and scheduling.
  • Experience utilizing electronic medical records systems.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a friendly, service-oriented, and professional manner with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, be proactive, exercise good judgment, and use critical thinking skills.
  • Highly organized, demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Job is generally sedentary in nature but entails walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, reaching, and bending.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor and operate keyboard-driven equipment and computers.
  • Generally works in an office environment but may occasionally perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Pay

The salary offer for this position will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($42,052.19 to $57,821.92) and may not exceed the midpoint rate of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.
