About the Role
Provide professional support in Talent Acquisition, Policy Interpretation, Classification, and Compensation.
Responsibilities
- Classification and Compensation: Review intake forms and job/position descriptions for appropriate classification. Assist supervisors in setting salaries during hiring, agency transfers, and promotions.
- Performance Management: Assist employees and supervisors in navigating performance management workflows in MyCareerConnect.
- Policy and Procedure: Provide general information regarding policies and procedures to VDOT employees and managers, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and agency laws and regulations.
- Talent Acquisition: Develop job postings by reviewing Position Descriptions in consultation with hiring managers. Screen applications to apply professional and legal standards. Participate in interview selection panels, career fairs, and recruitment events.
- Talent Administration: Review final employment recommendations to ensure clear justification for hire and compliance with EO and AA programs. Conduct and process pre-employment references and verifications. Attend statewide meetings to stay updated on current HR issues.
- Perform additional duties, tasks, activities, and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to collect, assemble, process, and file information using manual and automated systems.
- Skill in operating office equipment and Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Skill in providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences, including making presentations and conducting meetings.
- Knowledge of HR practices and principles.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
Qualifications
A combination of training, experience, or education in Human Resources or a related field is desired.
