About the role
The Guest Room Inspector is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction in the hotel. This position requires the ability to act as a Housekeeping Supervisor when needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet cleanliness and maintenance standards through thorough inspections.
- Resolve guest complaints and report any deficiencies or issues to the housekeeping team.
- Enforce hotel policies regarding lost and found items, accidents, and emergencies.
- Promote sanitation, safety, and security efforts within the hotel.
- Provide training and support to housekeeping staff to maintain consistent room cleanliness.
- Communicate with housekeeping supervisors and other departments to address guest complaints and concerns.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report on usage.
- Perform cleaning duties and assist in covering shifts for the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Assign rooms to be cleaned and distribute assignments when the Housekeeping Supervisor is absent.
- Ensure public areas and equipment are clean and in good condition.
- Notify supervisors or engineers of maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with housekeeping staff to address issues and implement improvements.
- Assist in inventory checks of housekeeping supplies.
- Respond to guest requests and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure satisfaction.
Requirements
- United States citizenship or valid work permit.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; additional language proficiency is beneficial.
- Able to follow instructions verbally and in writing.
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Fast-paced environment with ability to work under pressure and empathy.
- Outstanding coordination and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically.
Supervision
Reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager and supervises the housekeeping department when the supervisor is absent.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous Housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
- Stand and move freely throughout the shift.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
- Squeeze and overhead reaching occasionally.
- Bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces occasionally.
- Frequent handling of objects and equipment to maintain the property.
- Primarily an indoor job, but must be able to walk outside in various weather conditions.
- Climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outdoors.
- Work in variable room temperatures.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
Salary
$19 per hour.
