About the role
The Guest Room Inspector is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction in the hotel. This position requires acting as a Housekeeping Supervisor when needed and providing exceptional service to both internal and external guests.
Responsibilities
- Maintain positive guest relations and resolve complaints to guest satisfaction.
- Follow hotel policies regarding lost and found items and guest and team member accidents or injuries.
- Conduct thorough inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure they meet cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Identify and report deficiencies or issues in guest rooms and coordinate with the housekeeping team for prompt resolution.
- Enforce and uphold hotel cleanliness and service standards, ensuring staff adherence to protocols and procedures.
- Provide training and support to housekeeping staff to maintain consistent room cleanliness and presentation.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance to team members to enhance their performance.
- Collaborate with housekeeping supervisors and other relevant departments to address and resolve guest complaints or concerns related to cleanliness or room conditions.
- Respond to guest requests and concerns promptly and professionally, conduct follow-up inspections, and ensure guest issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring and reporting on the usage of cleaning supplies and amenities, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Perform cleaning duties when necessary, help cover sick and vacation days for the Housekeeping Supervisor, and assign rooms to be cleaned for the day.
- Ensure public areas are clean and maintained, inspect equipment and facilities, and notify a supervisor or engineer of maintenance issues.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
Requirements
- United States citizenship or valid work permit.
- Able to read, write, and speak English fluently; additional language proficiency is beneficial.
- Able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written.
- Able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency and empathy.
- Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Able to deal effectively and interact well with guests, vendors, and team members.
- Able to resolve problems and/or conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Supervision
Reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager and supervises the housekeeping department when the Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager is not present.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous Housekeeping experience is preferred, but not required.
