About the Role

At Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, you will lead a team of designers executing on key deliverables in support of GTF diffuser and combustor milestones. This includes executing on Class I Engineering Changes (ECs), responding to field events and investigations, identifying opportunities for product improvement changes, and integrating across modules. You will mentor less experienced engineers and interface with disciplines such as aero, durability, structures, and manufacturing. Responsibilities include executing mechanical design engineering standard work and communicating with Cross-Functional Integrated Product Teams (CIPT) and program customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of designers in executing key deliverables for GTF diffuser and combustor milestones.
  • Execute Class I ECs and respond to field events and investigations.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement changes and integrate across modules.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and collaborate with disciplines including aero, durability, structures, and manufacturing.
  • Execute mechanical design engineering standard work.
  • Communicate formally and informally with CIPT and program customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 5 years of engineering experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Diffuser/combustor engineering experience.
  • Experience in engineering activities related to products in service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with engineering standard work.
  • Experience with Class I and II EC processes.
  • Experience with fault tree investigation tools.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in Teamcenter and NX.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.

Department Overview

Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation, and in-service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors, and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles, and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial, and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units. Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability, and Product Definition.
