About the Role
Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking an experienced engineer to support IBRs/Rotors design within the GTF HPC Design team. This role offers the opportunity to take on a design lead position for IBRs/Rotors, driving improvements in design, addressing technical issues, supporting production ramp, and collaborating with multiple disciplines. Prior experience in Fan/LPC and/or HPC Rotor or IBR Design is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide design support across all phases of the design cycle, from preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service for components within the HPC modules (e.g., Rotors, airfoils, cases, frames, kinematics).
- Support existing installed GTF fleets through enhanced commonality and optimization of components to meet current and future business and customer needs.
- Expand repairability and maintainability for customers and MRO facilities, and collaborate with quality clinics to support test and verification of field issues.
- Design and implement common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Design and review layouts of components, calculate stack-ups, and perform major cost studies for new or existing details to ensure objectives and budgets are met.
- Resolve design problems of difficult-to-complex scope, ensuring project completion and reviewing layouts/drawings for clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards.
- Coordinate with other engineering personnel to ensure interrelated design completion and provide technical leadership on IPTs, including training less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience OR an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with IBRs or rotors.
- Experience with engineering standard work and Engineering Change Processes (Class I, Class II, Must Conform, etc.).
- Proficiency in FEA and/or classical methods of analysis.
- Proficiency in Teamcenter and NX.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range reflects all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
