About the Role
Pratt & Whitney Compression Systems Engineering group seeks a goal-oriented, detail-focused mechanical design engineer to work in the GTF HPC Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT). The selected candidate will take support and leadership roles in complex and high-priority tasks, directly support senior-level engineers and program managers, and work on designs within the HPC modules (e.g., rotors, airfoils, cases, frames, kinematics).
Responsibilities
- Design support across all phases of the design cycle: preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service.
- Support the existing installed GTF fleets through enhanced commonality and optimization of components to meet current and future business and customer needs.
- Expand repairability and maintainability for customers and MRO facilities; collaborate with quality clinics and related departments to support test and verification of field issues.
- Design and implement common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Design and review layouts of components, calculate stack-ups, and perform major cost studies for new or existing details and marked prints.
- Resolve design problems of difficult-to-complex scope to ensure project completion.
- Review completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Coordinate with other engineering personnel to ensure interrelated design completion and provide technical leadership on IPTs.
- Assist in training less experienced engineers to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience OR an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
- M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with IBRs or rotors.
- Experience with engineering standard work and Engineering Change Processes (Class I, Class II, Must Conform, etc.).
- Proficiency in FEA and/or classical methods of analysis.
- Proficiency in Teamcenter and NX.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
