Education and Experience
We have identified the following programs, experience, and knowledge that have helped others find success in this role at TrueNAS. We understand, though, that knowledge comes from many forms of learning and experiences. Above all, we consider a person’s potential impact in the role and value their unique path to this point in their career.
- A degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
- 2–4 years in SEO, digital marketing, or a channel marketing role where you were the person doing the work, not delegating it; a track record of owning multiple channels without a large team supporting you
- Working knowledge of search intent, on-page optimization, content briefs, and internal linking; familiarity with at least one SEO platform (Ahrefs, Semrush, or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with an email platform (HubSpot, Klaviyo, Marketo, or similar), a CMS (WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, or similar), and a social scheduling tool
- Regular, practical use of AI tools for drafting, content repurposing, copy variants, and research — without needing setup support; ability to recognize and correct subpar output
- Demonstrated system for managing competing priorities across multiple distinct workstreams
- Ability to review most content before it goes out — including AI-assisted drafts — and make it publication-ready
Nice to Have
- Experience in B2B tech or a market where the buyer is technical or skeptical
- Council, association, or advisory management experience
- A content property you've grown independently — a newsletter, a site, a social account — with real traffic or engagement numbers
