12-month position, 35 hours per week. Core hours: 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or until the last bus route is completed. Schedule may be adjusted when Erie School District schools/routes are not in session. Alternate shifts may be available based on district needs and may be required to maintain coverage.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Transportation Manager and Director of Non-Instructional Support Services.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Infinite Campus, Zonar “GPS” Program software, Traversa Routing software, Microsoft Office Suite, and My Stack Payroll system.
Responsibilities
Dispatch
- Assist in the routing and scheduling of bus routes and activity runs.
- Communicate with parents and guardians of students; relay information to appropriate bus driver.
- Contact the ESD Police or Erie City Police when serious problems occur on school buses.
- Notify school or parent of emergency situations involving students during transport.
- Keep Transportation Manager informed of any situation requiring attention or assistance.
- Document bus arrival and departure times at schools and total number of students for each school.
- Contact school when a student is missing from the bus prior to departure; relay information to driver.
- Locate parent or guardian when “no one is home” to receive a child; stay until the situation is resolved and the child is returned home or to another authorized location; maintain a log of all returned students in Infinite Campus.
- Field phone calls for all departments and transfer to appropriate location within the Service Center and Administration Building.
- Distribute and log the use of fuel cards and vehicle keys.
- Issue bus passes and keep an accurate accounting of all money collected; submit to the proper department weekly.
- Collect monthly copies of driver’s licenses for submission to Transportation Manager for monthly background checks.
Payroll
- Work with payroll and supervisors in the My Stack or other payroll system.
- Advise payroll of employees’ new schedules and locations.
- Review absence forms with supervisors for approval and input into the timekeeping system.
- Review employee time daily and note hours for daily overtime and field-trip overtime.
- Meet with supervisor regarding missing employee punches in the timekeeping system.
- Field phone calls involving contracted transportation services.
- During winter, field daily calls from schools concerning plowing concerns and contact appropriate personnel to correct problems.
Evaluation
Conducted annually by the Transportation Manager.
