Grand Café Food Server - Part Time

Responsibilities

• Take beverage and food orders from restaurant guests and input orders into POS system.
• Deliver orders following required standards for the position.
• Prepare tableside items (if applicable) and anticipate guest’s needs.
• Complete all side work including wiping down stations, re-stocking supplies, polishing silverware, buffing glasses, setting up service cart, etc. to prepare tables and stations.
• Break down stations, carts, and tables at close of restaurant.
• Explain menu to guests and answer any questions they may have.
• Memorize the menu and specials to recommend dishes and beverage pairings.
• Check on quality of food and service to ensure excellent guest experience.
• Provide timely table maintenance to ensure inviting dining experience for guests.
• Assist the busser/runner with tasks including table setup, pre-bussing, and delivering food.
• Assist management and host team with setting up and rearranging the dining area for larger groups and special events.
• Adhere to company-established SOPs regarding paperwork, cash handling, and auditing.
• Perform any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and ability to identify menu products.
• Superior knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding alcohol service.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to operate a glassware washing machine and refill ice bins and beer bins using ice machines.
• Knowledge of dish room operations, including separating silverware, dishes, and glassware.
• Must be able to communicate in English, both written and oral.
• Basic reading, math, writing, and task-completion skills.
• Skills in compiling, coordination, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem-solving, independent judgment, and decision-making.
• Flexible availability to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Alcohol Awareness Card.
• Previous restaurant server experience or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Demands

• Constantly standing, walking, and frequently reaching overhead, bending over, kneeling, and balancing during shifts.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Constant repetitive use of both hands and occasional light or firm grasping motions.
• Constant use of vision abilities, including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors, alone and frequently with others. Team members will engage in face-to-face interactions, including verbal contact, during extended shifts around computer equipment and mechanical devices. The noise level is usually moderate. May be exposed to slippery surfaces, fumes, odors, and secondhand smoke.
